Remember my new friend? Dee also asked me if I'd be interested in a road trip up the coastline during the last half of the week. It sounded fun at the time, so I said sure. It just occurred to me that her toddler daughter would be going with us... since her husband is going to the field for that time. Am I ready for a 7-hour road trip with a toddler? I'm not good with kids. What with my mental state at present, can I handle it?
Lots to think about, and it makes me feel like shit. Since when do I have to worry about a child's safety around me?

A road trip with a girlfriend does sound like fun. But I think you are on the right track to ask yourself if that is what is really best for you. Just sit with it for a day or so and see if it still sounds like fun or if it just sounds stressful. That's what I do.
If you decide to pass up the opportunity, see about meeting her another time for coffee or something so you can still spend time with her and her child in a more controlled environment.
