Yarn Balls

For the yarn crafters: why do you unravel, then ball up, your yarn when you buy it? I just did that with the rest of my black yarn and it was more of a pain than a help. It unravels just fine from the inside, if you know what I mean. I finally finished that silly scarf with the eyelash yarn... sheesh. I don't like working with it 'cause it tangles with itself. I also need to go to Michael's tomorrow to find two more skeins of the yarn I've been using for kitchen stuff. I have one hotpad done, but I want to make another so I can sell a set of two on Etsy.
Here's my new granny square project, more than half done by now. Bad picture, but you can see the design. The center is green, squared by brown, for fall colors.
