"Borrowing"

This post at Just Dot Christina made me think a bit... At first, I thought, "If MY mom ever pulled that crap on ME, I'd lock up my stuff and give her a piece of my mind!"
Then I remembered--the last time I borrowed a piece of Mom's jewelry, before the wedding--I'd forgotten to ask permission. We were driving into town when she offhandedly commented, "Be careful you don't lose one of those studs--the backs are a little loose." I realized, belatedly, that my choice of earrings to borrow were the garnets my father gave her for their 35th anniversary.
Ooops.
Maybe I'll keep my mouth shut about that piece of my mind...
